Somehow, they managed to make this movie both too busy and too
dull at the same time. Much of it was an almost spoofy take-off
on Dragnet type lines. We got a few grins out of it, but not much
more.

This film noir mystery drama, set in Los Angeles in the 1950's,
tells of two separate LAPD investigations linked together by a
mysterious woman played by Kim Basinger. The cast includes
Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce as police investigators, Russell
Cromwell as the police captain, Danny DeVito as an editor of a
sleazy tabloid, and Kevin Spacey as a celebrity cop with his own
agenda.
