GROSSE POINTE BLANK: 6.5
What was this? That's what I found myself asking throughout the
movie. The baseline plot had all the makings for a great romantic
comedy, and the clips they chose for advertising portrayed it as
one; and Cusack's occupation as a professional killer added a
fresh twist to the comedy. But really it was a dark comedy
wrapped around a "boy wants girl back" theme. I guess
it was the dark comedy slant that caught me off guard, and if you
like dark, odd, comedies you'll probably rate this a little
higher than I did. The pace of the movie was erratic, being fast
in parts and almost stalling in others. The too many, sometimes
too subtle, sub-themes and momentary characters often left me
feeling like I had missed something.
